On the 9th morning we had two hours safari before we took the flight back to Nairobi, and on the same afternoon, we went by road to Lake Nakuru in a 4X4, 9 seater, Land Cruiser.
The two nights at Lake Nakuru was great! But it was sad to note that the numbers of Flamingoes we saw in 2010 were far less compared to 2009. Our driver was able to show us a leopard on the same evening on our arrival at the Lake Nakuru, and my brother and Charith were happy since they did not see the leopard that I saw in Masai Mara. Next Morning, most of our time was spent on the Flamingoes on the Lake Nakuru, as well as on the black and white rhinos, who were feeding on grass on the vicinity of the lake. In the afternoon, while the driver was in search of a lion pride in the jungles of Lake Nakuru, another Leopard was sighted where it killed a baboon and carried it on to the top of a tree. Within few minutes, we saw a Hyena arriving at the spot. It was too late; otherwise it would have stolen the prey from the leopard.
We all had to say, good-bye to Lake Nakuru on the following morning and left for Nairobi, after having a morning drive in the park. We arrived in Nairobi late evening. Having many good memories of Kenya, My Brother and his family took a flight to London via Dubai on the same evening, while I and my wife stayed the night over in Nairobi and took a flight to Johannesburg on the following morning to continue our Safari to Savuti National Park in Botswana for five nights from the 13th September.
